My experience of working with alpacas dates back to 2006, when I was introduced to shearing while working as a headman and animal handler. I was instantly captivated by the gentle nature of the alpacas and the art of shearing.

Since then, I have traveled around the U.S. during shearing season, learning the craft while gaining valuable experience. In 2012 I started AlpacaTom.com Shearing.  I now travel with my own headman who is also trained in proper camelid handling techniques. Together we operate in a way which is easy on the animals, as well as the owners.
